Hallamos gozo cada día ☀️ - March 30, 2020

Hola a todos!

How are you all?

It seems like the situation changes every day with everything going on in the world. We are staying in Spain, and my mission president said it would be more dangerous if we went home than if we just stay where we are.

Luckily over the past few weeks, we've kind of learned how to work in quarantine and we're staying pretty busy. We usually have 5 citas every day, and we're slowly meeting the members of our ward and our amigos!

Also, I have a new trainer! I was with my trainer for about 5 days but she ended up going home because of health issues. It was pretty hard on me, but my new trainer and I get along really well and we're both new to the area! So it's an adventure 😁

My companion and I wrote notes to stick on some of our neighbor's doors because we can't go out and meet people in the streets, so we take all the excitement we can get. Also, we've met some of them and they're awesome! One of them, last week gave us her wifi when we asked, but then it stopped working the next day, so she kicked us off. For some reason, she slid a note back under our door thanking us for our notes and wishing us the best during the quarantine! We just made cookies today to bring so we can maybe ask her again about that wifi... it's going to be extremely awkward and I wish I could surgically remove my social anxiety when it comes to speaking Spanish, but the work must go on!

We have a missionary purpose that we memorize in the MTC, but in my mission of Spain Madrid, we also have a purpose that I'm working on memorizing. Part of it says "Somos los misioneros mas felices de la Iglesia! Hallamos gozo cada día y lo compartimos con los demás", which means "We are the happiest missionaries of the church! We find joy every day and share it with others". As I was thinking about that, I was wondering if I actually find joy every day. And not just fake happiness or compensating by looking at quarantine memes, but real joy. I know that one way to find that is through gratitude. That has helped me so much to find the little miracles amidst the challenges we're facing daily.

I know that so many missionaries are going home right now, and my thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I know that this is so hard and the unknown is difficult to face, but I know that we are all individually in Heavenly Father's sight and hands. His timing is perfect, and General Conference could not be more timely this spring!

I am so happy and excited to hear the messages our prophet, apostles and leaders have to share, and I invite you all to tune in this weekend. I know that Heavenly Father wants to bless us, and we can be edified and uplifted by His words.

Trials are opportunities for us to grow! But growing can definitely be painful! In the end, as we endure our trials well, we will be blessed and be able to grow beyond our imagination. God knows our potential and who we are better than we do, and trusting in Him is the key to our happiness and progression.

I love you all so much! Please stay safe and healthy! Abrazos y besos ♥️
