Straight up ✌not having a good time✌ - May 11, 2020

Hola!!

Ok so right after I sent last week's email about James being fuerte and progressing towards baptism, we called him randomly that day and he told us he doesn't want to be baptized. Rip. But it was interesting because he was kind of mumbling when we asked him what his doubts were. I know he knows it's true. We explained that we usually have trials right before we make a good decision (like baptism), and we answered his questions. He said that there wasn't any historical evidence of the book of Mormon like there is for the bible, he grew up in Peru but never learned anything about Nephites or Lamanites. We explained that, but he was just kind of off the entire time. He feels the spirit when he reads but I guess he's going to investigate other churches to see if he feels the same feeling. He was looking on the internet for answers (worst idea) and found some "anti" literature of course, instead of coming to us. I asked him if he prayed about his doubts (no). We invited him to pray and ask if the book of Mormon is true. He'll come back, but I don't think it'll be while we're here in Móstoles.

Anyway! So this week has been a tiny bit depressing. But it's ok! We love quarantine. And we love James!

I'm so grateful for the opportunity I have to go outside - que bendición for real. It's so cute here and we actually talked to someone the other day!! He was an interesting fellow. He came up to us and asked for a lighter, but obviously, we didn't have one. We started to ask him where he was from, and get to know him. He had talked to missionaries before but told us he didn't have anything more to learn in his life in general. We told him where the church was just in case he wanted to come after it settles down here. We saw him again the next night when we were walking on the opposite side of town, which was weird. But I guess we'll see if we planted a seed if he comes to church!  I can't think of anything else that happened this week but that's kind of how quarantine goes!

The mission president's wife is always sharing little inspirational quotes with us, she's the cutest mission mom. But there was one that I liked that she shared during zone conference. It says, "When you're in a dark place, you sometimes tend to think you've been buried. Perhaps you've been planted". Kind of cheesy, but I like the message. We have the hardest trials when we're about to make the best decisions and biggest changes in our lives. The adversary is wary of our potential and the progress we can make. He will do anything in his power to hold us back so we don't live up to our privileges. But we have the atonement. We have Jesus Christ, and through Him, anything is possible.

I love you all! Stay safe and have a good week 😁
